Isn’t she a beauty? This little portable typewriter has provided our boys hours of entertainment this week. Can you believe she was headed to the dump?
Let’s just say the case that housed it was in pretty tough shape. If you could see it you would understand why it was mistaken as trash. She was found in rubbish that our family was helping another family clean out and haul away. My inquisitive 13 yr. old was
curious brave enough to open it up and take a look. I’m so glad he did!
We asked if this was something that they wanted to keep and to our pleasant surprise they said no.
The boys began by retyping the Sunday comics and my grocery shopping list but quickly moved on to free style writing. Some times what I read resembled diary writing, but according them, boys don’t have diaries. So we’ll call it journaling.
I loved hearing the tap, tap, tap of the keys through the open window while I worked in the garden. Reading, creative writing, key boarding………….let’s not tell them they’re learning during the summer months, okay?
This little, vintage typewriter has definitely been my favorite find of the week. Does anyone know where I can find spare typewriter ribbon?
So tell me. What was your favorite find this week?
