I had a reader, who is new to couponing, ask this question: “What is a Catalina coupon? I keep reading it on different blogs but I don’t know what they’re referring too!”
Catalina coupons are coupons that are printed from the Catalina machine at check out. Either what you purchase or the swipe of your Rewards Card triggers it to print. Some of the Catalina coupons are Store Coupons and some are manufacturer’s coupons with your store logo printed on them.
The Catalina coupons pictured above are some that I have received in the past 2 weeks when checking out at Shaw’s. At the top of these coupons are printed the words ‘manufactuer’s coupon’. These are to be used just like coupons you print online or clip from magazines or the Sunday inserts. They are money off specific manufacturer’s products, in this case Pantene, Honey Bunches of Oats & Edy’s Ice Cream. The Shaw’s logo can be seen on the right above the bar code but they are not Shaw’s Store Coupons.
Here are more Catalina coupons that I’ve received from Shaw’s at checkout. At the top of these coupons are the words ‘Store Coupon’. These are coupons that can be used in combination with manufacturer’s coupons (‘stacking’) to increase your savings at Shaw’s. Shaw’s does allow ‘stacking’ of store and manufacturer’s coupons. Other stores, like Hannaford, do not. It’s important to know your store’s coupon policy before shopping so you’ll use these coupons correctly. They are not specific to one brand, instead they say:
- Save $1.00 on your next Personal Wash purchase
- Save $2.00 on your next Vitamin purchase
- Save $1.00 on your next Hair Care purchase
- $7 off your qualifying purchase of $70 or more when you use your Rewards Card
I hope this helps all new couponers!
