Yesterday afternoon we filled the car with boys, buckets, baskets and bags and went apple picking down the street.
Why is it that the 'perfect' apple is always out of reach?
The boys happily climbed the old trees for us. Seth's picking technique involved shaking the limbs and showering us with apples. (Sir Isaac Newton's Law of Relativity still applies!)
Sawyer's technique was to toss them down to to me one apple at a time. Less bruising that way!
No if's, ands, or BUTTS, about it! It was a fun afternoon in the fresh air and sunshine.
I was dreaming of filling our freezer with applesauce and pies.
We loved the fresh air, family outing, friends and free apple harvest!!

Back in May I told you about this promotion: FREE Portland Sea Dogs Ticket - My Coke Rewards! I was given a bag of Coke caps from a friend in town. Every Monday I banked all the cap codes allowed for a week until I had enough to purchase 4 tickets for FREE! We chose the September 4th game against the New Hampshire Fisher Cats as a last bit of excitement before school begins next week.
We found our seats just as the Sea Dogs took to the field. I kid you not. The first foul ball of the game came straight to yours truly. No, I didn't catch it. I think I may have screamed though! Our son, Seth, came prepared with his glove and saved the day (and my face) by catching the fly ball!
The game was fantastic! Plenty of action. I cheered for both teams which drove my husband and sons nuts. Hey, a good play or hit is still a good play or hit even if it came from the visitors. :) I have to say the short stop with the red glove played awesome!
Sawyer had a classic baseball moment with 'Slugger'. I think Sawyer watched more of Slugger than the actual game. The Sea Dogs won 6-4 on this perfect summer evening.
Look what I found on the back of our tickets. Big Apple coupons! I also wanted to mention that when looking for parking spot keep an eye out for the good people of Habitat For Humanity. Your $5.00 parking fee is a donation to there fantastic program and they give you a receipt (window card) that you use as a right off at tax time.

Keep in mind that each outlet runs their own unique sales. The savings you saw in Our Monthly Bread Store Trip was specific to our Country Kitchen Bread Store located on Route 1 in Waldoboro. I do not know how each store runs their sales but I would love to learn. So if you shop any of the above locations please leave a comment letting us know what you've found out!
